August Burns Red é uma banda de metalcore de Lancaster, Pensilvânia/EUA.
A banda foi formada em 2003, enquanto os membros ainda estavam no ensino médio. O nome da banda é derivado de um incidente no que respeita á relação e a repartição de um ex-membro e sua namorada. Com Jake Luhrs(vocal), JB Brubaker(guitarra), Brent Rambler(guitarra), Dustin Davidson(contra-baixo e vocal), Matt Greiner(bateria).
Em 2004 a banda lançou um EP, denominado Looks Fragile After All. Depois de anos tocando e com um novo vocalista, em 2005 a banda lançou pela SOLID STATE RECORDS, seu álbum Thrill Seeker em Novembro desse mesmo ano. Em 2006, o baterista da banda, Matt Greiner virou endorser da Truth Custom Drums.
Em Outubro de 2007 a banda lançou um novo álbum: Messengers. Esse álbum possui 75.000 cópias vendidas, chegando até o pico de nº 81 da Billboard 200. De abril até maio de 2008, August Burns Red ficou em turnê com as bandas As I Lay Dying e Misery Signals. Logo em agosto entrou em turnê com A Skylit Drive, Sky Eats Airplane, Greeley Estates, e This or the Apocalypse, até Outubro do mesmo ano.
A banda também visitou o Reino Unido e a Europa durante um mês longo.Países como Alemanha, Finlândia, Noruega, Suécia, Reino Unido, República da Irlanda, Irlanda do Norte, Itália, Bélgica, Holanda, República Checa, Eslováquia, e França.
Depois de terminar sua turnê pela Europa, ABR retornou para gravar o álbum "Constelations", que foi lançado em 14 de Julho de 2009. Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me), tem uma participação na canção "Indonésia", e também contém muita influência BTBAM com muitos "breakdowns".
Embora as músicas de August Burns Red sejam frequentemente definidas como Metalcore Cristão, JB Brubaker, mencionado na entrevista com um estrondo, em uma revista online, afirmou: "o cristianismo é estilo de vida e não um estilo musical". Disse: " é importante não deixar que a música fale por si. No entanto, Brent Rambler comentou o fato de que " É importante para nós que as pessoas saibam que somos cristãos..."
